I am a bit concerned about my work....I have been having an on going discussion with my boss via email about my hours. I need to work 25 hours a week at the minimum to be about to afford my rent etc. I have been working my non-exsistant bollocks off for this company including even looking after the business whilst my bosses were away. I work from about 9am to 8/9pm at the moment with only Wednesday off and working a few hours on the weekend. Basically I am in front of my computer for most of the time waiting for enquiries to arrive. So when they approached me last week accusing me of stating 25 hours when they worked out I had worked less.....I got a bit upset. It isn't about doing the actual enquiries it is waiting for them as well and constantly phoning guesthouses which don't answer the phone etc.
So I put it to my bosses that I work set hours....whether it is busy or not. I sent them an example of 5 hours a day in the week eg. 9 - 11am and then 6pm - 9pm (as they are not around in the evening and doing the enquiries as quickly as possible gets the bookings). And then the remaining five hours I would do on the weekends when they are out enjoying themselves (which is fair enough, their business). I thought this would work well as then I have time in the day to do things I may want or need to do, and it works out nicely in two chunks. They said they would get back to me.
Got an email back today...and this is what they want me to do.....
Mon - Tues - Thurs - Fri
making 4.5 hours per day
Saturday and Sunday 1 hour morning - 2 hours late afternoon/evening - making three hours. And then another hour which I can use as and when.
The question is....Do you think this is fair?
As far as I can see I am working more or less the same as I am at the moment, with short breaks. Nigel is disgusted. I don't know where to go from here.
